Our Design Process

Define:

What we mean by this is that; if drawings and specs are not provided to us, as they are sometimes by design, architectural and contracting firms; then we make a site visit and record all dimensions and related information so that we can draw a plan of the space back at our design office. We create scaled plans of your space. This is often called a space plan and elevation drawings.

Divide:

Based on the clients needs and wants we will define the space to include our cabinetry and then divide it into a preliminary layout oincluding open, closed, functional and decorative areas. For example, there are many ways to divide up an 8’ wide by 8’ high cabinet.

Decide:

At this point a design meeting is usually productive because now these is a scaled, easy to understand, drawing to view, consider, mark up, make changes to and be able to easily critique.

Detail:

Next: revisions/changes will be drawn in to perfect the layout and add some aesthetic details whether it be moldings, reveals, accents, architectural accoutrements or other materials such as glass, decorative metals, stone, finishes, lighting and more. We view this as building it on paper first. The desired outcome is to have an accurate construction document for all to work with; the client, the millwork shop, the contractor or designer and any other related trades working on this particular project.
